Tip #37: Productive Conflict

Think about your team meetings:

• Are they effective?

• Does productive conflict occur?

• What are the levels of engagement during the meeting?

Effective team meetings provide a setting where conflict can occur. The best performing teams encourage meetings that are lively and interesting. They engage in ideological debate around issues that tap into all perspectives and opinions ~ popular and unpopular.

As you schedule your next team meeting, set aside enough time for critical discussion. Make it easy for team members to engage in constructive conflict and resolve issues. Follow up quickly after to discuss remaining and/or unresolved issues.
