Tip #68: Expectations and Accountability

Do you follow through on your promises and commitments? What percentage of your team members do the same?

Take a moment and reflect on how you influence accountability.

High-performing teams ensure that their members feel pressure from their peers to “do what they say they will do.” There is a performance expectation. At times, teams will recognize that a team member, or possibly the entire team, has deviated from the plan. This is the time to review progress, address performance issues, and decide how to get back on track. Team leaders provide opportunities for those who have fallen behind to step-up, and for other team members to step-in to offer help.
