Tip #32: Build Trust

Be willing to apologize to other team members.

As the leader of the team, the culture of your team should allow individuals to operate within a trust-based environment. Everyone should feel comfortable being vulnerable – open and honest about their challenges, fears, weaknesses, mistakes, and failures in work performance.

Personality and behavioral instruments can be utilized to help team members understand one another’s different preferences, skills, tendencies, and priorities.

Consider incorporating these tools with your team:

• CliftonStrengths

• Everything DiSC Workplace

• Leadership Practices Inventory

• Work of Leaders

These assessments can identify collective strengths, as well as potential blind spots of the team. They allow people to better understand and empathize with one another.
