Tip 198 - Facilitate the Coaching Process 4: Coaching and Other Learning

Coaching provides an organization with a common language and consistency, developing leaders who are ready to move into leadership roles and additional responsibilities. It is not done in a vacuum which makes it imperative that coaches link coaching to other learning events occurring either within or outside the organization. For example, are there mentoring programs, internal training, or academic opportunities that are offered?

It is important to know the overall philosophy of the organization’s leadership development program. What is important to the organization, and what efforts are occurring at different levels or for different groups? Ensure your coaching is linked to the organization and its ultimate goals.
