Tip #67: What Can We Learn?

Think about a recent team project. At your next team meeting, review the process of the project by asking the following questions:

  • What worked well?

  • What challenged us?

  • What could each team member have done to leverage talent and help the team be more effective?

By all accounts, you are asking the team, “What did we learn about ourselves and our process with this project?” This is a powerful question, one that should provide honest insight and discovery. Effective leaders make it safe for the team to express thoughts, ideas, and perspectives; they know that mistakes and constraints will occur so they make sure learning becomes an essential part of the process
