Tip 205 - DEI Consideration 2: “What Changes Will You Make”?

When the organization has decided upon its commitments, it is essential for leaders and managers to understand their role in the engagement, development, and wellbeing of team members. The intentions of DEI initiatives mean nothing if leaders and managers do not deliver on the organization’s policies and values.

Gallup has three (3) recommendations for effectively implementing DEI initiatives:

  • Employers need to teach managers to spot, celebrate, and coach toward the organization’s expected DEI behaviors.

  • Leaders must communicate frequently and consistently, through words and actions, ways that demonstrate and foster inclusion in the workplace.

  • Leaders need to gain ongoing advice about DEI issues and continue learning.
